What can I do to help make Flow widely available through the NHS?

Modified on Thu, 18 Apr 2024 at 04:13 PM

We want to ensure that Flow is accessible to everyone who needs it, and a crucial step towards this is its inclusion in public healthcare systems, such as the NHS in the UK.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guides the NHS on treatment pathways, including introduction of new treatments, like Flow. In a recent Medtech Innovation Briefing, NICE acknowledged that, 'There is high-quality, comparative evidence from the UK that Flow can improve symptoms of depression and lead to remission.'

While this is a significant step, making Flow widely accessible on the NHS requires us to also undergo a NICE Technology Assessment, which examines whether Flow can result in cost savings for the health system. Although our evidence strongly supports this, NICE faces resource constraints and prioritisation challenges.

Patient demand plays a pivotal role in NICE's decisions, and they value input from real patients regarding the use of new technology.

If you share the desire to see Flow widely available across the NHS, please email medtech@nice.org.uk and ask for the inclusion of Flow and tDCS in a technology assessment.

For your convenience, a template is provided below, but please customise it according to your experience.

Dear NICE,

I was pleased to see NICE publish a Medtech Innovation Briefing on Flow, which states that ‘There is high-quality, comparative evidence from the UK that Flow can improve symptoms of depression and lead to remission.’ I know that Flow Neuroscience is seeking to go through your NICE Technology Assessment in order to enable a deeper review of its impact on patient outcomes and cost savings. This review would help more patients like myself access Flow and tDCS.

[Insert information about your experience with Flow or why you would like to have access to it on the NHS].

Thank you for considering Flow and tDCS for assessment.

Kind regards,
