Can I buy or sell a Flow headset secondhand?

We strongly advise proceeding with caution when buying or selling a second-hand Flow headset. While it is possible to transfer ownership this way, the headset must have originally been purchased through one of our official sales channels and include a genuine, permanent activation code in order to be used by the new owner.


Please note that Flow is not responsible for any transactions made outside of our official sales channels, and we are unable to generate replacement activation codes for second-hand headsets. For that reason, we recommend that both buyers and sellers confirm all details carefully before completing the transaction.


Instructions For Buyers

Before completing a purchase, we recommend confirming with the seller that a valid, permanent activation code is included and that the headset is fully functional and eligible for resale. We do occasionally see sellers list rental or disabled headsets that can no longer be used, so it is important to check this before buying to avoid disappointment later.


An activation code is required to activate the headset in the app, and without one, the headset cannot be used. If the seller cannot provide the original activation code or if the headset is no longer functional, Flow is unable to issue a replacement.


If you do decide to buy second-hand, we recommend using a platform that offers buyer protection or a clear return policy in case the headset arrives without a working activation code or is not as described.


Please also note that the manufacturer’s warranty applies only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to a second owner.


Instructions For Sellers

If your activation code has already been used on your account, please email us at support@flowneuroscience.com. We will release the activation code so you can give it to the buyer.


If your activation code hasn’t been used yet, you can simply pass it along to the buyer for them to enter directly in the Flow app. There is no need to contact Flow Support.


Note on rental headsets: Rental headsets remain the property of Flow and cannot be resold. They are linked to time-limited activation codes, which cannot be transferred or used for second-hand sales. In some cases, we may allow you to keep a cancelled headset so you can reactivate your subscription in the future. If you do not plan to use it again, please contact us at support@flowneuroscience.com, and we can help arrange a return at no cost to you.
